The Well-Being Weekend is The Present Moment’s semi-annual retreat. The upcoming session (our 9th) is about understanding what it means to be strong and the strength that lies within.

Being strong means having the resources, the mental skills and the physical capabilities to confront difficulties of all kinds. When you are strong, you have ample excess of energy and stamina, so that when facing a challenge that depletes you of energy and inner strength, you still have enough left in you to act.

Understanding just how strong you can be is a wonderful form of resilience training and the gifted professionals in our Trusted Professionals Directory each has a unique tool or technique to teach you. Come be in community with others who share your journey.

Day One is our full-day seminar and is limited to just 24 participants. Now that we are in our fifth year of holding this gathering, it has become clear that the safe environment created which allows those attending to participate and speak freely with no judgment or fear works best when we limit attendance. One participant who has been to every Well-Being Weekend we’ve hosted has said, “The best part is being able to connect in two ways – one with the other people in the room and the other with myself.” We feel limiting attendance is a way to show we value that level of trust and honor everyone who participates.

Day Two is our second annual Afternoon with the Authors. What better way to continue our discussion of inner strength than hearing from four women about their own personal experiences? Spend a relaxing Sunday afternoon with four local authors as they discuss their captivating stories and the genesis of their books. During the afternoon you'll hear from each author plus have a chance to win a signed copy of their book. And, of course, books will be available for sale and there will be a book signing. This three-hour workshop may be purchased as part of the entire Well-Being Weekend package (see below) or by itself (see separate event page).

Rosemary Hurwitz: Strengthening Your Authentic Core by Knowing and Nurturing Your Essential Self

Learning the Holy Virtues of the nine universal personality types on the Enneagram, and the essence of each, is a way to strengthen our divine/human core. Rosemary will discuss why it is necessary to let go of the false personality (ego) and return to the divine within ourselves – the one that we remember, resonate with and know is true. Using the work of Sandra Maitri, author of The Spiritual Dimension of the Enneagram, Rosemary will present an overview of the Holy Virtues followed by group discussion of how to let go of the false personality and be led by the essential self.

Rosemary Hurwitz, a married mom of four young adults, is passionate about an inner directed life and she found the focus for it in the Enneagram. She received her Enneagram Certification in an MA. Pastoral Studies program at Loyola University, Chicago, in 2001. Rosemary has studied and taught the Enneagram ever since. She also gives Enneagram-based private coaching for awareness and emotional wellness.

Chris Moses: Rituals and Ceremonies for Strengthening Body, Mind and Heart

Rituals have been used in all societies for thousands of years, often as a way to allay fears and control the environment, and as a primary education for others in community. Today we are immersed in them almost constantly on a daily basis without even realizing it, such as walking your dog, your morning coffee routine, or attending a church service. You can invite personal and meaningful rituals and ceremonies into your daily life that will nourish and strengthen you by engaging all of you – your body, mind and heart. Creating and using them can awaken your connection to God, Spirit, Source; they can support your healing or transformation process, bring you a feeling of awe and inspiration, or simply help to begin your day on the right note, with good energy. Chris will lead you through some examples of rituals and ceremonies, experiencing the impact each can have. You will leave with resources and tools that can be easily incorporated into your life for resilience, strength, and empowerment.

Chris Moses provides counseling and guidance for personal and spiritual growth as well as the facilitation of women’s groups. Her combined experiences and training in cross-cultural traditions and healing modalities offer a unique integration for compassionate purposeful living. She is the author of “The Wisdom of Circles: Gathering Women for Conscious Community.”

Marianne Kaplan: Is the Energy in Your Space Enhancing Your Strength?

Everything is energy and each of us has a personal energy frequency. Stressed and low energy frequencies can impact your body and immune system and challenge your physical, emotional and spiritual well-being, i.e., your personal strength. When the energy frequency is low in your environment due to some type of energy disturbance, your personal energy will be impacted. By raising the vibration of your space your personal energy will be elevated thereby strengthening you.  Using a technique called “Diamond Dowsing,” Marianne will measure each person’s personal energy frequency along with the energy level of the room and other fun items. She will then review techniques you can personally use to raise your vibration and feel better.

Marianne Kaplan is the owner of Feng Shui for Success and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the practice of Feng Shui. She has three Classical Feng Shui Certifications and is working on her fourth with Feng Shui expert, Marie Diamond. Her clients include a variety of entrepreneurs, homeowners, realtors and real estate stagers. The objective with all of her work is to bring the imbalances into balance so that clients can strengthen their goals and bring them about in the most expeditious manner.

Cheri Neal: A Healthy “Gut” – Five Steps to Freedom

In this life changing, unconventional, interactive presentation, Cheri Neal will share the value of finding your inner strength by creating conscious space in your life to identify and release resentments against people (including yourself), institutions and principles that block you from your joy. A process is provided for deliberately cleaning out your internal closet so that you can move forward, truly making new choices for your life.

Cheri Neal runs the speaking and coaching firm Candid Coaching and Conversations. She works with people who seek to turn adversity into opportunity so they may live engaged, fulfilling, and prosperous lives. Cheri has served in full-time elected office since 2001, as well as on many boards and commissions, earning numerous awards for her dedication to community engagement and collaboration. She holds a double Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Human Behavior in Society and a Master’s Degree in Management with a Certificate in Leadership. She has been a certified and accredited Life Coach since 2006 and a TED practitioner since 2015.

Marla Goldberg: Embracing Yourself: The Strength behind the Duality of Our Personality Characteristics

There are two sides to every personality characteristic, positive as well as negative. Using the 5 Elements in Chinese medicine (used in Chinese Face Readings), Marla will explain the perceived characteristics of each element and discuss the duality of the positive and negative offered by each. For example, if someone is considered to be assertive, she may assert her will to get things done (positive). The negative perception could be that she is abrasive or aggressive. Marla will lead the group in a discussion of how to embrace both sides of a characteristic for a happy and more fulfilled life and, time permitting, will conduct mini Chinese face readings.

Marla Goldberg has been on her spiritual journey since 2003.  Through this adventure of realization, she has been trained in over 20 healing techniques.  Marla’s practice concentrates on four of those techniques: Spiritual Response Therapy, Chinese Face Reading, Space Clearing and Intuitive Life Coaching.

Elizabeth Romo

Elizabeth Romo: Honoring Our Innate Strengths

It has been said that “life is what you make of it.” The truth is that it is our daily interactions and choices we make that show us who we are and what we believe about ourselves. When experiencing stress and struggles, one may realize it is time to begin again and let go of our limited beliefs and understand ourselves as spiritual beings. Elizabeth will discuss the innate inner strengths that each person possesses, how these strengths support us and how they impact ourselves and those around us. She will also review ways to develop and rely on these strengths.  To help take this in, Elizabeth will close by leading the group in a short guided meditation and delivering a brief message from Spirit to each person.

Spiritual teacher, medium and empath Elizabeth Romo O.M.C. has been trained by Dr. Brian Weiss in past-life regressions and the Newton Institute in Life Between Lives spiritual regressions. She is a Reverend and a Karuna Reiki Master; trained in several modalities of energy work.
